Eli-Chem Resins - Hi-Build Resin
Hi-Build Artwork Resin non-hazardous and non-toxic, it utilises the most up to date UV inhibitors/blockers.
It is a two part epoxy resin which will work well in any application where the user wants the resin to stay exactly where it is dropped; no slumping, no sliding, no movement, it stays where you drop it. Simply mix in a 1:1 ratio and let it drip, drop or ooze off your spatula. This resin is not available in a clear option, by default it is an off white colour and therefore Hi-Build must be pigmented. Use a suitable resin pigment e.g resi-TINT, resi-TINT MAX, resi-METAL (or equivalent)
- Perfect for Blob art, 3D collage work & Geode art
- No slumping or sliding
- Available in 3 pack sizes
- Solvent free and odour free
- User friendly 1:1 mix ratio
- High build formula
by volume: 100 parts resin to 100 parts hardener
by weight: 100 parts resin to 90 parts hardener
canvas, wood, MDF & glass
second layer after 20 minutes, touch dry in 2-3 hours at 23°C, full cure in 4-5 days
1 litre of the mixed product will cover approx. 1.43 m²@ 0.5 mm thick (1kg = 1 litre)
15-20 minutes at 23°C (250g mixed mass)
one year in sealed containers
The mixing ratio must be accurately followed to achieve perfect results. It is not possible to change the ratio which would result in the resin not drying properly and lower mechanical properties.
The mixed components should be thoroughly stirred for 3-4 minutes to ensure an even consistency, add the mixed resin to individual cups and add your chosen pigments to each cup.
The product can then be dropped onto the surface to create domed 3D shapes. Apply by hand, if it’s too gloopy to measure properly simply pre-warm the containers (place in hot water to lower the viscosity).
BUBBLES: Any bubbles created by hand mixing can be easily popped by using a sharp object or by passing warm air over the surface of the resin with a blowtorch or hot air dryer on slow speed settings. Do not hold closer than 30cm to your artwork otherwise you risk creating ripples and dimples in the resin finish. If you use alcohol inks DO NOT use a flame to remove the bubbles, as alcohol is flammable.
Health & Safety
Although our resins are formulated with the most modern and safest epoxy chemicals available, all epoxy resins are chemicals and should be managed and handled with proactive safety hygiene and responsible care.
- Always wear nitrile gloves (or use a specialist resin barrier cream)
- Wear a respirator when sanding partially cured resin
- It is advisable to work in a well ventilated room
- We advise the use of safety goggles
- Avoid skin contact (if resin gets on skin wash with plenty of soap & water)
- DO NOT eat, drink or smoke while working
- In case of eye contamination wash with plenty of water for 15 minutes and consult medical advice immediately
Adding inks/paints/mica powder/glitter to epoxy resin will change its properties and may reduce its non-toxicity. If you use alcohol inks DO NOT use a flame to remove bubbles, as alcohol is flammable.Hi-Build Resin Technical Data Sheet - PDF
